The game-changer that offers care with speed, ease, and convenience

The Cigna Virtual Clinic (CVC) is our telehealth solution that utilises technology to deliver quality medical care wherever and whenever it is needed. On the app, users can video consult a licensed practicing doctor for non-urgent conditions within mere minutes and get the necessary medications delivered to their doorsteps, amongst having access to an exciting array of other perks.

Here, Leonard shares with us his experience about how he came to discover the Cigna Virtual Clinic, and how he has come to see it as a game-changer that provides a greater peace of mind as quickly as it does comfortably.

The dilemma

About a year ago, I fractured my hand and went to the hospital to get it checked and wrapped up. A few days after, however, the bruising on my hand started getting worse and my hand just looked like a dark shade of purple. This being the first time that I had fractured a bone, I was a bit worried. I thought I should get a doctor to check on my hand but also did not want to go to a clinic or hospital either.

Previously, when I had to see the doctor, I would walk to the clinic to get a queue number. If the queue was long, I would usually head home to wait or run some errands nearby, but the wait can range from 30 minutes to over an hour and that can really drain a lot of your energy. Sometimes when you are feeling a bit of discomfort and busy with work, you would prefer a much quicker process to get the prescribed medication for something that you feel is minor. I have experienced waiting at the clinic when the queue number jumps so slowly that you feel like you are wasting your time just waiting to see the doctor. And at the same time, you have so much on your mind that the waiting really starts to become annoying.

Instant relief

When my wife suggested that I use the Cigna Virtual Clinic app to get an online consult for my hand, I thought that it was a pretty good idea to check on the severity of the issue with a doctor over a video call first. And if it wasn't an issue, then I wouldn't have to make a trip down to the clinic, so I was definitely sold on this idea. I think the best part of it is the ease and comfort of being able to do it in my own home. I was able to sign up and be connected with a doctor in just 5 minutes. It was a breeze and I even learned that I could have medication delivered to the house if needed.

As it turns out, the doctor whom I consulted with said that it was normal for the bruising to turn purple a couple of days after the injury occurred. I think what provided the greatest peace of mind for me was the instant relief upon hearing the doctor say that it wasn't an issue and that I don't need to worry. In the past, what I would usually do was to search for causes and symptoms online, but I would get all kinds of answers that only worried me more. Having the experience of the virtual clinic was like doing an online search but having an actual doctor give you a reliable diagnosis, so it was a total game-changer that is much quicker, simpler, and more convenient.
