Singapore Red Cross Receives US$12,000 From UPS Foundation

The Singapore Red Cross on 15th July received a USD$12,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS, for the First Aider on Wheels programme.

“The UPS Foundation is honoured to support the Singapore Red Cross’ First Aider on Wheels programme” said Eduardo Martinez, President of The UPS Foundation. “Our goal is to fund powerful programmes that make a lasting difference to the global community”.

Established in 1951 and based in Atlanta, Ga., The UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its backing clearly impacts social issues. In support of this strategic approach, The UPS Foundation has identified the following focus areas on giving: nonprofit effectiveness, encouraging diversity, community safety and environmental sustainability.

Every weekend and public holiday, Singapore Red Cross’ first aiders patrol the East Coast Park to give first aid to the injured. Our first aiders have tended to more than 1,000 casualties, from light injuries such as abrasions, to fractures and jellyfish stings.
